It's a Girl!!!!
Ha Ha I fooled you!! It's Hayden's birthday present early. We wanted to wait until his birthday on July 26th, but the lady couldn't keep her. Hayden has named her "Flower." Now before you say it, Hayden has never seen the Bambi movie, so he doesn't know about that Flower......I said we should name her Flour as in Baking flour. Her coloring is perfect for it. Anthony's cat Smokey is very unhappy and he has decided to live on the deck, in the summer heat. He does not care. He would rather be in the hot, then near this female kitten! I have to admit, she does know how to wrap you around her finger, I mean paw.....
Went to Dad's today. He had me cleaning everything, I'm beat. He is not sick, or throwing up as the nurse said. He does have quite a bit of stomach pain. It's funny, but it's not, he falls asleep while you are talking to him. He is on pain meds and they make him sleepy. So you are talking away and all the sudden he is snoring. Too funny. Hayden and I got to laughing. Dad said I should name my daughter Rita...........one of his old flames.....out of respect to my deceased mother I told him.....No such luck!! We know it will be Emily, just don't know the middle name. I was looking at the family names, and I don't like any of them....I did like Rose, after a Great, Great Aunt, but Dad said she was horrible...so that's out.......and apparently I named Hayden after a Great Uncle who was how should I put this nicely???? Fond of women????? Oh that is wonderful....gee dad forgot to tell me this when I was picking names for Hayden......
The agency sent a letter stating that all the sn children on the new list were adopted, but the website is still showing the little boy as available. I didn't have time to confirm anything with them on Friday because it was hectic. The boys had physicals, and I subbed for some friends so we had a house full on Friday. I also forgot to call my homestudy...well really they were supposed to get back to me, but didn't.....I really have to push this company......not my agency. I'll write myself a note to call them Monday......Have a great weekend All!!

Confusing times

Well we thought the new list was being requested, but it seems one little boy with a cleft has still not found his family....so I don't know????
Well Dad starts radiation tomorrow. We were told he would not be sick. Yesterday they told me that he would be violently ill....now what is the deal here? So now my sister is taking dad Tues-Fri, I have him Sat. and Sun., and my hubby is with him on Mondays. It's a rough patch, but we will get thru it. I can tell you that what is about to happen is going to really wear me out. I have already been thru this with my mother. She passed away almost 11 yrs ago now. I need strength to get thru this. My sister wasn't here when my mom got ill. She had moved away. She thinks she can handle this by herself........I don't even know how to tell her. He has to have radiation for at least 6 weeks....
Chemo doctor wants to start in 2 weeks.......
Things just keep getting better don't they!!!

Mondays News!
Wow what a day. I was totally off the computer, doing errands and keeping my mind elsewhere on purpose because the wait gets to me.........and I just pop in to check my email. There it is a note from the agency. So I figure it's the same old "we hope you are doing well...." Nope! The next sn list is being requested! Wow!! Is that a record or what? CCAA needs to step it up and send us a bigger list!! We have placed the last two lists of children in less than a month each! Hopefully things are looking up. We are now waiting for this list to see if we find Emily. We were told that we are family number 4. I believe we are family number 3 now. The last list came in 2 months.......so maybe......maybe.......a new list in August??? Could we possibly have hope of Emily for Christmas here? Dare I set my heart on this again???
Everytime I tell Anthony..my oldest... that the new list is coming and we may find Emily this time....he says "Mom you say that everytime." I told him one of these days it will be Emily. He says "Yeah, I'll believe it when we are on the plane."
Smart kid for 9 years isn't he...................................

14 Months Behind us

Some people say when you get to 14 months that the date doesn't mean as much anymore. I can't help but think that something has to change. We have to be 1/2 way there. I'm going to be positive today, and not let the wait get me down. Some say stay away from the computer, but I think the blog helps me.
I am going to focus more on getting ready. I am going to start purchasing things we will need for travel. Like a thermos, folding cups, and basically looking for what food items there are available to take. I'm planning to take the boys, and Hayden is my problem. He is picky, picky, picky! Well he will eat when he gets hungry. I can't really buy anything for Emily at this point, because we really don't know how old she will be.

Dad

Well I haven't been wanting to post this message, but everyone is asking. Dad went to the Chemo doctor on Friday. He was turned down. They said because of his weight loss, they can't begin. Now they did encourage him to go to the radiation doctor because this is "easier" on the body.......I'm waiting to hear what the radiation doctor has to say. The Chemo doctor did say that they would begin when dad gains some weight. Dad is having a hard time eating. Says he just can't eat that much. He snacks a little all day to get in more calories, but even that is making him ill. This is so hard to believe from a man that was BIG, and STRONG his whole life up to now. I remember when my mother was dying. She had to be lifted from the bed to the wheelchair. Well my mother was swollen from fluid, in addition to being heavy, (thanks mom for those genes, but I still love you!)...she was well over 200 pounds. My sister and I together, could not pick her up. My father just scooped her out of the bed like she was a feather. Now carrying 5 pounds is difficult for him. You can't tell from this picture because he is wearing a sweater type jacket that is about 3x's his size.....he stays cold. Actually this picture was prior to the tumor surgery so he was "bigger" in this picture.

Bad Day

Monday dad found out that his pancreas test came back positive for cancer. This is after 9 hours of surgery to remove a tumor on his liver. He now faces Chemo and Radiation.
Yesterday his girlfriend passed away. She had her kidney removed for cancer right before Christmas, and found out 3 months later that the cancer was back. She didn't even make it 3 months. She refused Chemo.
We did not find Emily on the latest SN list, as we had hoped.
Oh yeah did I mention, I have PMS, and cramps.
Not a good week................

Vacation Photos.......Warning!!

Mother with Vacation Photos......this was our Mother's Day Trip to the beach, and I threw in a couple of fishing pictures that I took down at Dad's house. Dad is a waterman, and he lives on the Wicomico River. The fish is a Croaker. Yes he makes a croaking sound, like a frog. It's funny. Yes I ate that fish! My sister is sitting, I'm the one standing in the green shirt. She got to fish, I had to do bait.

Flooding in China
Friends, there is a flood going on in China. I didn't catch all of it, but thousands are homeless, and over 60 now thought dead. Guangdong was mentioned, and I know I spelled that wrong. Reason why I'm so upset is because we have friends adopting from that area. Ok so someone find some good information please!!!!

So much for rumors
Well friends so much for the rumors regarding the speed up. What did we get 6 days of referrals this time? I tell you for anyone new just starting out, please don't get your hopes up. My husband and I rode that dream for a long time. It only ended in heart break. We truly believed that Emily would have been home with us by now. I believed everyone that CCAA didn't want to get that far behind, I believed in this magical speed up. Well friends we are inching closer to 14 months now. CCAA is only to Nov 7th.....we are Apr 06....so still 5 months ahead of us and a month is taking 3 months...so we are not even hopeful about 2008 here. We are looking at the sn lists because Bruce and I are not getting any younger, and we have been thru a lot, no more like a ton of medical issues in our life time. I feel like I can handle anything at this point, but Bruce is still scared. Hayden had breathing problems for a while after he was born....well the child is turning 7 next month and I still catch Bruce going in there at night to check him. Although he wants you to think he is Mr. Toughguy..........he is just a teddy bear that crys at Disney movies......excuse me, gets an eyelash in his eye......boy I never knew you could lose that many eyelashes.........

China's push to Sn
There is a lot of talk lately about the fact that China is making it easier for sn adoptions. People are wondering if the nsn slow down is due in fact to China wanting people to take the sn route. I have to admit I have wondered this myself. We were LID nsn, but have switched to sn. When we started I admit, we didn't do our research. And I have to say that the people I talked to did not encourage me to look at sn. But since finding so many wonderful people and learning about their stories, I must say that I'm very happy with our choice. For those of you just starting out, I encourage you to research sn. These are truly amazing little people.

Well Stacy said if we read her blog to consider ourselves tagged. We have to name 10 of our favorite memories......
10. Saw the originial Star Wars Movie with my best friends. I think I was 12.
9. Got my puppy Kelly for my 10th birthday. He was a yellow Lab! LOVED him.
8. My mother and I used to pick Blue Crabs and make crabcakes for extra money when
I was young. I remember we used to sing while we did it. Some of the songs
were made up, and we used to laugh. I miss her. She died 10 yrs ago.
7. My Aunt Josie used to try to teach me to sew. I was left handed and it drove
her crazy. She told me to learn how to cook....hee hee
6. Seeing my oldest son Anthony for the first time. He had the biggest Blue eyes.
5. Holding Hayden for the first time...he was 13 days old. The doctors didn't
expect him to live. He is now 6 yrs old, and healthy!!
4. Watching Anthony age 4, spoon feed Hayden at age 6 months. Very Messy!!
3. Leaving physical theraphy for the last time with Hayden age 3!
2. Hearing the doctors after 9 hours of surgery on my dad..."We got the tumor."

All is Quiet on the Adoption Front

Someone please catch this damn bird!!!!
Well you don't want to know about my week...but here are the highlights. We are in a terrible financial place. I've lost some clients, I've been helping my dad out, and can't do this right now due to number 1, we found termites in the backyard, and dare I say lastly, my fridge decided to die. Thankfully because of the financial situation we did not purchase many groceries this week! Now at least I have a reason to grill out tonight!!
Well no pity wanted here........take care, I know things will get better!!!
Referrals will be here soon for the November families and I'm going to think about that....not my problems!! TGIF!!!!!!!!!!!!!
